From the pen, and heart, of William T (Bill) McCaughan:

Meet the Elder:

I gave my life to Jesus when I was 14 and basically "grew up" in the Lord's Church. I have been privileged to serve as a shepherd for the congregation for the past eight years. I have had the EXTREME blessing of serving with 4 (although one has moved on to other tasks for the Lord) of the most wonderful and Godly men that I have ever known. The potential in this relatively small congregation of God's people never ceases to amaze me. I had served as an elder previously in Alaska and in Texas, but "2020" has been the most amazing blessing yet. I thank God for both this privilege and the blessing of being with and serving with the most amazing (I know, that's the 3rd "amazing" - but it IS!) brothers and sisters in the world.

A little Info about me:

I am blessed to be the husband of Gail (Linda Gail), my wife of 49 years. We have two sons: Shawn (Camas, WA) and Ron (Claremore, OK); the world's best daughter-in-laws: Pam and Cindy; and the 4 smartest/cutest grandchildren in the world: Loryn, 18 (soon to be a freshman at Harding University), Lance 13, Caleb, 13, and the "little red-haired girl" Gabby, age 8. I am recently retired, from Oregon State University (dean emeritus - sounds important, doesn't it), after "a long time" in higher education. Gail is getting used to having me under foot, although I DO have a lot to do... I grew up in Texas, Oklahoma, California, and Massachusetts. Gail and I have lived our married lives in Texas, Alaska (27 years), Texas - again, and Oregon.

Favorite Passage:

John 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (Followed, of course, by I Corinthians 13)

My Prayer for all the flock at Circle:

I pray to my God that we will each understand our part in His body. I pray that each of us will mature to the point that we have confidence in our salvation and a commitment to doing our part to the best of the ability God has given us. I pray that we will each set our eyes on the prize and not let the enemy distract us with things that are not important to the Father. I pray that our love for each other and for our Lord Jesus will grow to the point that it fills us up and pushes out anything that would hold us down or hold us back. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
