From the pen, and heart, of Rod Holland:
Meet the Elder:
I can't remember not being a part of the Lord's church. I was baptized when I was 12 years old. I have had the opportunity to listen to and learn from some of the "great" leaders of the church. I have lead singing since I was 5 years old. I have taught classes, preached and given workshops. I have been a youth director, education director, served as a deacon and now an elder. I have been an elder here for approximately 20 years. Working with the other elders here at Circle has been both humbling and rewarding. My admiration for these men and their love of God and His church could not be greater. They are an inspiring example of a Godly eldership.
A little Info about me:
Just over 45 years ago, in the sanctuary here at Circle, I met a beautiful young blonde girl and fell immediately in love. A few years later, she became my bride. She is still my bride, but now we share our lives with 3 kids and 8 grandkids. Our daughter, Karie, lives here in Oregon and our two sons, Jason and Travis, live in Nashville, TN.
After graduating from Harding College, I was blessed to be accepted into the U.S. Air Force's officer program and flight training. During the final years of the Viet Nam war, I was a pilot with the Tactical Air Command. I had many wonderful experiences and met many interesting people along the way. After the war, I left the Air Force to persue a life of natural healthcare. I attended Western States Chiropractic College while flying part-time for the Oregon Air National Guard. My chiropractic practice began over 30 years ago and was transformed into a holistic practice about 12 years ago. Recently my wife, Linda, and I, along with our youngest son, began Pinpoint Office and Learning Solutions - an office, church, daycare and early childhood education supply company. So, for now, retirement is not in my immediate future.
Favorite Passage:
I have two that I try to live by:
Matt. 22:37-39 "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and foremost commandment. And the second is like it, you shall love your neighbor as yourself."
Phil. 4:13 "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me."
My Prayer for all the flock at Circle:
I pray that each of us can mature spiritually to the point that our love of God will be foremost in our minds in all we do. I pray that we can look at everyone as God sees them - as His children. I pray that through the love we have for God's children and through the lives we live, others will want to know Jesus.
